Downtown Churches Historic District
| Location | Sheboygan, Wisconsin |
| Project Type | National Register Nomination |
| Year | 2008 (completed by Jennifer L. Lehrke while a Senior Architect at LJM Architects) |
The Downtown Churches Historic District contains four congregations representing four distinct faiths, each with medium-sized, well-designed, and well-maintained church buildings. The diversity of the churches in the district is representative of, 100 years of religious architecture spanning from 1867 to 1968, including High Victorian Gothic, Late Gothic Revival, elements of Tudor Revival, and Contemporary architectural styles. Of particular note, Grace Episcopal Church is significant for establishing the first Boy Scout troop in the State in 1911, Boy Scout Troop 1, only one year after the national Boy Scouts of America began.
