Since the 1860s, Walworth Avenue has been the commercial and civic center of the small city of Delavan, Wisconsin. The district is a quintessential Wisconsin main street comprised of 25 late nineteenth and early twentieth century commercial and public buildings including the post office, public library, several banks, and numerous retail storefronts. Representative of the prevailing architectural styles of the eras of its development, fine examples of Italianate, Commercial Vernacular, Neoclassical, Twentieth Century Commercial, and Contemporary architecture are prominent within the district.
